He published eighteen books of both fiction and nonfiction, authored numerous scholarly articles and other creative endeavors, and was an enthusiastic and inspirational speaker and teacher. Brian Castronovo (1949- ) received his M.A. degree in Spanish from Middlebury College and his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He has spent most of his career teaching Spanish linguistics at California State University-Northridge, where he received the Distinguished Teaching Award. He has published several scholarly articles in journals such as Hispania, Hispanic Linguistics, and the Boletín de la Real Academia Española. He is chair of the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures and is Vice-President of the California State University Foreign Language Council.
