Like Matt, he is intense, melodic and soulful, filling & allowing space." -MODERN DRUMMER Matt Abts and Johnny Neel have formed what can only be described as a "power duo." They met in the mid-‘80s when they were both asked to join the Dickey Betts Band and played on Pattern Disruptive. Johnny Neel went on to play in the Allman Brothers. He wrote and co-wrote roughly half the songs on their first release, including "Good Clean Fun". Abts is also a member of side project Gov’t Mule. Neel & Abts were reunited in a live setting when Blue Floyd came together in early 2000. Much of X2 was established in the blues & jam interpretations of the Pink Floyd material they covered. Comprised mostly of first takes, these sessions initiate a journey of ongoing live and recorded musical experience!
